On June 30, 2003, South
City Grill Jersey City made its debut. Hundreds
of guests attended the grand opening party that evening,
including local officials, fellow Jersey City restaurateurs
and legions of loyal South City
Grill customers.
The following day, July 1, the restaurant opened to the
public, instantly assuming its rightful place as the third
star in the South City Grill
crown. In the Newport neighborhood of
luxury high-rise apartment buildings, South
City Grill Jersey City is both a “local favorite”
and a destination restaurant for diners seeking “Northern
New Jersey’s best seafood” (NJ Monthly, August,
2003).
The atmosphere inside the new restaurant
is equally as impressive. Entering underneath a
encased glass corridor, guests find themselves in an airy lounge,
with a large bar and intimate seating areas. As in our
two other locations, elements of stainless steel, glass
and stone give the restaurant a contemporary feel, while
the use of polished wood and creamy fabrics ensures that
the atmosphere is warm. At 10,000 square feet, South
City Grill Jersey City is considerably larger than
its sister restaurants in Rochelle Park and Mountain Lakes,
but diners may choose to be seen at tables in open areas
or cocooned in lushly-upholstered banquettes. To the right
of the central lounge, the wood-paneled Rosina Room boasts
silk-draped floor to ceiling windows and rich carpeting.
Sliding glass doors separate the room from the rest of
the restaurant, providing a perfect space for private
parties.
Of course, South City Grill
Jersey City will feature the same fabulous seafood that
has won raves at our other two locations. Brunch is served
every Sunday from 11:30 to 3:30, and Latin Jazz Night
is planned for Fridays.
