Driving southbound along
Route 17 through Rochelle Park, the yellow and blue stucco
building, which houses the original South
City Grill immediately catches the eye. Designed
to evoke the cool sophistication of Miami's South Beach,
it is here, at the restaurant group's first location in
Rochelle Park, that South City
Grill first made its indelible mark on the New
Jersey dining scene.
The ambiance created through the use of contemporary materials
like glass and brushed stainless steel, along with the
colors of the sea, are a key component of the dining experience
here. Behind the sleek bar are shimmering plates of blue
cracked glass - an abstract representation of ocean waves,
while overhead, a steel sculpture makes reference to a
fishing net. In the two dining areas flanking the bar,
a soft, neutral palette provides a serene backdrop for
the colorful and imaginative food.
To one side of the main dining area, rich blue velvet walls
set the stage for the popular Wine Room. This elevated
enclave, set a foot above the rest of the room, accommodates
parties of eight to ten surrounded by a stainless steel
and class wall of wine selections.
